About Our Painting & Decorating Services
We undertake commercial and domestic painting and decorating, including interior and exterior painting, paint spraying, window restoration and painting, wallpapering, wall preparation and repair, wallpaper stripping and mould removal. We also have experience delivering event and exhibition decorating projects where tight deadlines and coordination are particularly important.
Yes. Commercial decorating is a key part of our work. We undertake projects for businesses and commercial clients, including work where fast turnarounds, reliable scheduling and coordination with other trades are important. We also have experience working with letting agents on property redecoration and maintenance projects.
Yes. Although commercial work is an important focus for us, we continue to undertake suitable residential decorating projects. This includes interior work as well as higher-value exterior painting and restoration projects for homeowners.
Yes. We undertake exterior painting for residential and commercial properties. The work required depends on the surfaces, condition of the existing coatings, preparation needed and access to the property. Exterior projects can also incorporate related work such as window preparation and restoration where appropriate.
Yes. Paint spraying forms part of our decorating services and can be suitable for selected commercial and refurbishment projects. Whether spraying is the right approach depends on the surface, property, surrounding environment and required finish, so we assess the project before recommending a method.
Yes. We undertake window restoration work where the existing timber is suitable for restoration. This can include preparation, appropriate minor repairs and refinishing of timber frames and sash windows. If deterioration is too extensive for sensible decorating or restoration work, more substantial joinery repairs or replacement may be required.
Yes. We have extensive hands-on experience in event and exhibition decorating. This type of work often involves fixed deadlines, changing site conditions and coordination with other trades, so reliability, flexibility and efficient project delivery are particularly important.
Quotes, Pricing & Project Planning
The cost depends on the size and condition of the property, preparation required, surfaces being decorated, access, materials, project complexity and the overall scope of work. We do not publish a fixed price because projects vary significantly. Contact us with details of your requirements so we can discuss the work and provide an appropriate quotation.
Yes. Our usual process involves assessing the work required and providing a quotation for the project before it proceeds. For property work, this may involve visiting the premises or arranging access so we can understand the condition and scope properly.
It depends on the scale and condition of the property. Commercial projects vary, although previous Harris Decs projects have included jobs taking around one to two weeks. The required preparation, access arrangements and other trades working on site can all affect the programme. We discuss the expected scope and scheduling before work begins.
Yes. Working to deadlines is a significant part of our experience, particularly through commercial, event and exhibition decorating. We are accustomed to projects where completion dates matter and where work may need to be coordinated around other contractors. Whether a specific deadline is achievable will depend on the scope and availability when you enquire.
Commercial Clients & Letting Agents
Yes. We have experience working with letting agents and property-related clients. This can include gaining access to a property, assessing the decorating required, supplying a quotation and completing approved work as part of a planned property turnaround.
Yes. Redecoration between tenancies can form part of our work for letting agents and property clients. The scope depends on the condition of the property and what needs to be completed before it is returned to use or prepared for the next occupant.
Yes. We are experienced in projects where flexibility and coordination with other trades are required. This is particularly relevant to commercial, event and refurbishment environments where several contractors may need to work within the same programme.
Yes. Harris Decs works with a reliable network of experienced subcontract decorators who are used regularly for suitable projects. This enables us to assemble the appropriate team for work requiring additional capacity while maintaining a consistent approach to project delivery.
Experience, Workmanship & Preparation
Jay Harris has more than 20 years of hands-on experience in painting and decorating, and the trade has been part of the Harris family across three generations. Our experience covers domestic, commercial, exterior, event and exhibition decorating.
Preparation depends on the condition and type of surface. It may involve removing unstable or flaking coatings, stripping wallpaper, preparing damaged areas and completing suitable repairs before decorative finishes are applied. We consider preparation an important part of producing a proper, durable finish rather than simply painting over existing problems.
Yes. Wall preparation and repair form part of our service where appropriate. The extent of repair required will depend on the condition of the surface. More extensive structural or specialist repairs may require another appropriate trade before decorating can proceed.
Yes. Working neatly and tidily is one of the standards we aim to maintain on every project. Our approach is centred on making the work straightforward for the client, communicating clearly and completing the agreed decorating properly.
